How do I add a new transaction?

There are multiple ways to add a transaction to your account, either individually or via import. Add as much information as you’d like, knowing that the more detail you add, the easier it will be to manage your investments in the future. You can always go back to edit or add additional information at any time. Keep in mind that in order to add a company transaction, you must first add the company and the round of investment to which your transaction relates. And, in order to add an investment fund transaction, you must first add the investment fund to which your transaction relates.

To add an individual transaction related to a company or fund:

  • Use the “Add New” button on the left side menu bar from any page in your account to quickly add a transaction for either a company or an investment fund, depending on your account level and type of investment.
  • Select the Account the transaction is associated with, using the drop-down list, when relevant. If Enterprise, select the investor for whom the transaction is, and select an investment account, when relevant.  
  • Select the Company / Fund from the drop-down list.
  • If a company was selected, and the transaction is tied to a specific round, then select the Round from the drop-down list; otherwise skip.
  • Select the Transaction Type from the drop-down list. Based on your selection of Transaction Type, a series of additional relevant fields will appear.
  • Enter the Date the transaction occurred or best estimate.
  • Enter as many of the fields as you wish.
  • Enter a Memo with any important notes related to the Transaction.
  • Save your entry.

To add multiple transactions via Import:

  • Go to Portfolio Management and select the tab for Import.
  • Follow the steps for the spreadsheet template.

Depending on which Transaction Type you select, the transaction detail could include entry fields for # of shares, amount, name of new round a convertible note converts into, and other specifics related to that particular transaction.

Enterprise Group
 clients need to enter separate transactions (either manually or via import) for each investor who invests in a particular entity. Once those entries are made and you've Updated Calculations, you'll see a recording of how much the entire group invested. And after an investment has been recorded, you then have the option to use the Bulk Transactions feature to record subsequent pro rata transactions in that same round. Enterprise Fund clients need to only enter a transaction on behalf of the entire fund.

You can find a list of all your transactions in Portfolio Management by selecting the Transactions tab. Once you enter transactions for your companies and funds, when relevant, you will be able to see your investments and their data appear in other parts of your account.
