For Enterprise customers subscribed to Seraf's Currency module, Seraf retrieves foreign exchange (FX) rate data daily from https://openexchangerates.org. The FX rates used represent an average of a number of available FX rates as of midnight GMT on the specified date, as the “end of day” rate. These rates are used to determine the value of your holdings at any given point in time and are suggested as exchange rates to use in transaction entries, for example when recording investments or exits.
Daily rates are recorded as of approximately March 1, 2025 going forward. Daily rates are stored for one year and then replaced by quarter-end rates after one year from the current date. Quarter-end rates are recorded from 2010 onwards and will be applied as the exchange rate for any new transactions dated older than one year, as well as any of those less than a year, but occurring prior to the start of daily rates being recorded.
You can see all of the exchange rates listed in Portfolio Management / FX Rates, where, you can also add your own exchange rate, should you like to have an exact calculation for your records.
Note that when you add a new currency to your account, it may take a day for the rate to populate, since rates are retrieved just once daily and may not otherwise be immediately available.
